Meetings Africa, the must-attend trade show for anyone involved in planning, securing and hosting business meetings,
will take place from 24 to 26 February 2010
at the
Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
An African showcase
Meetings Africa serves as the continent’s most inclusive business-to-business platform for those
wishing to exhibit their products,
services and
destinations to both local
and international buyers.
The forthcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup™ has stimulated increased awareness
of the show and
interest in South Africa as a prime
business tourism
destination.
Hosted by
South African
Tourism, and the Department of Trade
and Industry’s Export Marketing and
Investment
Assistance Scheme, a record
number of overseas buyers,
120, will attend Meetings Africa next year.
Pre-selected local corporate buyers will also be out in force.
In a bid to ensure Meetings Africa in 2010 is an African showcase, South Africa’s neighbouring
countries are being urged to exhibit to broaden
the region’s offering, and
capitalise on the opportunity to showcase their business tourism offering.
All aboard for Associations
With destination awareness at an all time high and increased volumes of inbound arrivals traffic to the southern African region expected, next
year’s show will be the ideal time
to focus on the association’s market – a sector that has huge potential for growth.
The first ever Association Day aimed at better-equipping, and strengthening the local association’s market to bid for, and attract, international
association meetings to
South Africa, will take place on the 23rd of February.
Calling all corporates
Key for the next Meetings Africa will be to grow the number of corporate visitors attending the event.Nomasonto Ndlovu,
Global Manager:
Business Tourism at South African
Tourism, is urging South African corporate companies to take a Sho’t Left to Meetings Africa to see how
South Africa can fulfill all their conference and events needs. ‘In addition to showing the best products, and hottest event trends, Meetings Africa is
a great place to find some creative alternatives to suit any budget’ adds Ndlovu.
Beyond the goal-post
Pre-and post-exposure from the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ event is expected to provide a huge boost for the business tourism industry. South African
Tourism’s business tourism
team are already looking to attract meetings and events beyond 2010.
Business Unusual in Barcelona
South African Tourism will also participate at one of the world’s leading business tourism exhibitions – EIBTM (European Incentive Business Travel Market)
that takes place
in Barcelona, Spain in December 2009.
South African Tourism will drive awareness of South Africa as a prime business tourism destination by marketing next year’s Meetings Africa exhibition, and
focusing on
the improved and excellent infrastructural legacy of 2010, highlighting our capability to host big events, our sophisticated and unique products, and
South Africa’s natural beauty.
